Students Take Steps Toward Careers in Skilled Trades
Gahanna-Jefferson Public Schools is proud to recognize several students who recently completed a pre-apprenticeship program through the Independent Electrical Contractors (IEC) of Central Ohio, marking an important step toward future careers in the skilled trades.
Through this experience, students gained valuable hands-on learning while building real-world skills that will serve them well beyond high school. The program provides entry-level training, introduces students to career pathways in the electrical field and helps them develop essential workplace skills. Participants may also earn industry-recognized credentials and Ohio graduation seals, further enhancing their experience.
Gahanna Lincoln High School students Jack Ryan, Izzi Reber and Blaidyn Christ were recognized at a recent ceremony for their accomplishments. Each student has earned the opportunity to continue in the program this fall as a full apprentice and will begin with credit for the first year already completed.
Opportunities like this highlight GJPS’s commitment to preparing students for success after graduation. By connecting classroom learning with hands-on experiences, students are gaining the skills, confidence and direction needed to take their next step with purpose.
